Annie West's Yeats in Love cards, which are available to buy

Acclaimed local illustrator Annie West has created a range of Yeats in Love greeting cards.

Her famous drawings have brought admiration from fans across the globe.

She said: "Yeats in Love is a series of illustrations I started working on all the way back in 2006. I'm still doing them.

"The pictures are based around the very amusing, yet painfully awful nerdy love obsession Willy Yeats had for Maud Gonne.

"This year I am turning my attention to Maud and how mean she was to poor old Willy – running off to France with a French journalist, while Willy, unaware, pined away in Dublin."

This series has been in several exhibitions over the years in Dublin, Sligo and Galway.

Annie said: "Collectors include Former Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley, President Michael D Higgins and my mum.

"The illustrations are going to be a book later on this year, published by New Island in Dublin, to commemorate Yeats' 150th birthday in 2015."

The greeting cards are available in the Drumcliffe Tea House, Yeats Tavern and Liber Bookshop.
