From a Dark Shore
Eoin McNamee grew up in the small coastal town of Kilkeel, Co. Down. Born in 1961 and from a family of four boys - his father, a lawyer and his mother, an art teacher. Writer, Dermot Healy was the reason Eoin and his wife, artist, Marie Caulfield moved to Sligo over twenty years ago. Eoin had attended the Scriobh Festival, organised by writers, Dermot and Leland Bardwell: "Dermot drove us around the countryside. We were ready to move from Dublin." The couple settled in Skreen, south Sligo, a place locked between the mountains and the sea.
