Temple House to hold gundog fair
Temple House is to host its first ever northwest working and gundog fair next month.
The Fair is being organised by Richard and Patricia Verdon.
Both are keen gundog enthusiasts and regularly attend Ireland's top working and gundog events.
They found nothing of this kind close to home, and so decided to take the lead!
Among the competitions at the fair will be Water, Hunt and Blind Retrieves.
There will be several displays on the day. Gorana Leahy from Calry along with her team will be demonstrating dog obedience and dog protection.
Martin Feeney, who is a regular competitor on the national sheepdog circuit and who has also appeared on the popular TV show "One Man and his Dog" will give a sheepdog demonstration.
Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet racing, organised by Ian Greer will bring great excitement to the day.
The main arena will host a thrilling gun dog demo and display by Co. Sligo Harriers, directed by Huntsman James Mee and assisted by his Whip Barry Verdon.
But it's not all about Dogs.
You can try your hand at archery, paintball target shooting, air rifle shooting or take a stroll round the various stalls and pick up some homemade treats from the farmers market or a tip from Chef Joe Shannon during his cooking demo.
And for the kids, entertainer Scruffy Duffy will make an appearance.
There will also be eagles flying, face painting, and bouncy castles.
Little Mr and Little Miss Northwest, Bonny Baby and some fantastic prizes will be on offer for the best-dressed lady and man on the day.
Don't forget to bring your own dog and enter the family dog show judged by Seamus Collery with great prizes to be won.
Admission is €10.00 and under 12's are Free Free parking on the day. The fair will take place on Sunday, September 28th in Temple House Sligo.
