Peace in the Fleadh was launched in City Hall recently.
The colourful event is an initiative of Sligo County Council, to bring people from both sides of the border together during the week-long festivities.
Stella Carroll, one of the organisers, said: "We had various groups involved.
"These included the Drumcliffe St Colmcille Pageant, Cos Cos sean nos dancers and representatives from Ancient Music of Ireland."
Music lovers had the chance to see up close instruments used 3,000 years ago by our ancestors.
Stella added: "Peace in the Fleadh will be about music, dancers and singers from Ireland and Northern Ireland.
"It will showcase the best of what our shared culture has to offer.
"There will be a big festival carnival feel."
Those at the launch were also treated to a special rendition of the Irish national anthem.
Stella said: "A Cameroon lady, Mabel Chah, sang a very interesting version in Irish.
"She is one of the volunteers for the Fleadh.
"Her Irish was exceptionally good."
