Former boss Alex Ferguson's autobiography is the number one seller in Eason this Christmas.

Deirdre Conway, the store manager at the O'Connell Street shop, said: "It must be all the controversy of the row with Roy Keane."

Another top seller is Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

"That series of books has proved to be a major hit with children," she says.

Deirdre says that the Christmas feel kicked in on the last Saturday in November.

"Since then it's been busy. Last weekend was good, with Saturday being bedlam.

"Books are still very popular as presents."

With two weeks still to go for shopping, Deirdre is optimistic that the upward trend will continue.

"We're very positive," she said.
