IT'S a 'box set' to history.

The latest Kilmactigue Parish DVDs have just been launched.

They provide a fascinating insight into a number of South Sligo areas at the time of the Millennium.

What started out as a project to mark the special year that was 2000 is now set to continue.

One of those behind the initiative, Tom Walsh said: "We've brought out 'Part 7, 8 and 9.

"We hope to produce a total of 15 DVDs, with more to follow in the New Year."

Featured in the newest additions to the collection are Rhue, Tullinaglug, Tullymoy, Escreagh and Carrownagappul, and Tourlestrane.

The launch took place in the Hillary Room, Banada Hall.

Each DVD is about 90 minutes to two hours long.

They are on sale at local outlets, including The Border Colley, Tourlestrane; Connacht Gold, Rathscanlon; Murphy's Spar and Killorans for €15 each, or the set of three for €40.

Tom said: "We talked to a lot of local people at the time of the Millennium to get their memories, etc. They are now there for ever more."
