LAST WEEKEND'S storms caused widespread problems throughout the county with many homes flooded and roads becoming impassable.
A large number of people had reason to be very grateful to the emergency services for coming to their aid. These services are of course provided by the various local authorities and will in time be funded by, among other things, the property tax.
A reader has posed an interesting question: should the people who don't pay the Household Charge or Property Tax call Deputy Mick Wallace to pump the water out of their homes'. I don't know, perhaps they should but I suspect they might be under water for a while if they had to depend on the tax dodge TD to deal with the problem. But it's an interesting point.
