The Cork club last appeared at this level four years ago, but they had been refused a licence in the interim due to financial problems. However, they got the go-ahead to return after agreeing to allocate €25,000 in back money for unpaid wages from their last season in the league.

The full fixtures list was released by the F.A.I. on Friday and will whet the appetites of local supporters who have some attractive friendlies to look forward to in Ferrycarrig Park before the competitive fare begins.

Drogheda United's planned visit on Sunday last was unfortunately called off due to a waterlogged pitch, but Shamrock Rovers will be star attractions this Friday at 7.45 p.m. Dundalk will provide the opposition on Friday, February 22, at the same time, and the pre-season preparations will conclude with a home tie against Shelbourne at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2.

There will be 28 series of matches during the league season, with the winners being promoted to the Premier Division for 2014.
