Swimmers in the Enniscorthy pool for the coaching session

Thirty young swimmers were given a close-up view of one of the country's best when former Olympic contestant Melanie Nocher came to Enniscorthy. Swim Ireland hosted the coaching session and invited clubs around the South Leinster area to nominate participants.

The County Wexford (Slaney Sharks, Courtown, Wexford and New Ross) athletes were joined by their counterparts from Carlow and Wicklow for the occasion. The visitor from Belfast gave her students for the morning an insight into what it takes to come out on top in the pool

They were given tips on stroke and turning techniques as well as taking part in fun relay races. Ms. Nocher also met the families and the club coaches of the swimmers as she discussed training, diet and the motivation required to enjoy the sport to the full.
