Double delight for New Ross Town

AFTER CLINCHING the league title on the previous Sunday, New Ross Town completed the league and Etchingham Cup double when overcoming All Blacks in sunny Curracloe on Sunday afternoon last.
Town got off to a great start when Jenny Delaney scored a free kick early in the game and, despite All Blacks best efforts to get back into it, they were unable to break down the New Ross defence and their task became more difficult when Anne Carroll doubled the lead just before half-time.
A goal early in the second-half from Lina Smitate had the game over as a contest although Tanya O'brien did pull one back for a battling All Blacks side who showed their grit and determination and never gave up.
However, Lina Smitate scored her second goal with 15 minutes remaining and effectively wrapped up the match for her side. Despite the scoreline, the game was closely contested and All Blacks did create chances, but the difference was the winners ability to take their opportunities in front of goal.
League Chairman Daire Doyle presented the winning team with their cup, complimenting both sides on an excellent game. Ann Carroll was player of the match.
