Scallan savours first racing buggy run

GRAHAM SCALLAN, a well-known Wexford Motor Club member, had the joy of sitting in a JB Racing Buggy recently in Mondello Park. Graham, who is better known for his antics in a MkII Escort or his new Subaru N14, left his two-seat rally cars aside to drive the one-seated buggy which was an all-new ball game for the rally man.

But like a duck to water, Graham took this by the scruff of the neck and his MkII days stood to him with his flawless sideways action.

After spending time setting it up to his liking in the morning, he went on to an enjoyable run for both himself and spectators to watch as he screamed by in a 600 cc motorbike engine at 17,000 rmp, and to see it fully off the rack at 105 mph was truly amazing!

Well done to him as he was a novice, so this is a good sign for the future. Let's hope we see him out again soon in it.

These buggys are only after being regulated for the National Rallycross championship and they are definitely the future of this. Mondello will be on fire this winter so don't miss out on all the buggy action. The next event is on November 25.
