St. Martin's crash out

ST. MARTIN'S have crashed out of the Pettitt's Senior hurling championship with one round of group games still to play after slumping to their third defeat from four outings against near neighbours St. Anne's in Wexford Park on Saturday last.
This loss, coupled with Glynn-Barntown's victory over Cloughbawn in New Ross on Sunday evening, means that the men from Piercestown and Murrintown were the big casualties of the weekend's action.
Ferns St. Aidan's, Rapparees and Shelmaliers are through to the quarter-finals from Group A, and last year's runners-up, Faythe Harriers, must beat an Adamstown side already destined for the relegation play-offs in the last round to advance. If they lose, and Oylegate-Glenbrien beat Shelmaliers, then the boys in blue would qualify at their expense.
Oulart-The Ballagh are guaranteed to top the Group B table and St. Martin's and Cloughbawn are set for the relegation series. The only issue to be ironed out is the jockeying for positions between St. Anne's, Rathnure and Glynn-Barntown who have also advanced to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the last eight pairings in The Courtyard Ferns Intermediate hurling championship are now known, with Askamore the main team to miss out after losing Sunday's local derby to Craanford in Ferns.
The full details are:
Buffers Alley v. Duffry Rovers; Blackwater v. Craanford; Naomh Eanna v. HWH-Bunclody; Ballygarrett v. Oulart-The Ballagh. The relegation semi-finals will pit Rathgarogue-Cushinstown against Geraldine O'Hanrahans and Askamore versus St. Patrick's.
