'Song and Story' tribute night
A SONG and Story tribute night in memory of Myler Moran is being held in Rathgarogue Community Centre on Friday at 8 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Mother's Day hamper
A MOTHER'S Day competition for boys and girls to win a Mother's Day hamper is currently taking place. Entrants must write a letter outlining why their mother is the best mother and leave it into the customer service desk Tesco, New Ross, for Mary McGrath, Community Champion. Letters must be in before Mother's Day.
Car boot sale
A CAR boot sale is being held at Tesco, New Ross, on Saturday, March 29, and one will be held on the last Saturday of every month: the cost is €10 per car; €15 for van and €20 for van and trailer. ON WEDNESDAY, March 26, you can check to see if you are registered to vote at a Register of Elections information session at New Ross Library on Wednesday, March 26, at 2 pm.
A gardening talk is taking place on Tuesday next, March 25, at 7 pm at which you can learn how to make beds in your vegetable garden.
The monthly poetry group will meet on the same day at 7 pm, focusing on the works of Emily Dickinson.
A junior reading circle group will meet at 3:30 pm on Friday, March 28 at 3:30 pm. This is for nine- to 12-year-olds and new members are always welcome.
Phelim Byrne cookery
CHEF Phelim Byrne will hold a cookery demonstration to raise funds for Ballykelly Scouts on Thursday, April 10, at 8 pm in the Horse & Hound. The doors open at 7:30 pm and tickets cost €12. Tickets are also available from scout leaders. There will be trade stands and door and spot prizes. All money raised will go towards maintenance costs associated with the Ballykelly Scouts hall.
THE LADY President of Brandon Bridge Club Wendy Cahill welcomed members to her President's Dinner on March 7, where prizes were presented following recent bridge nights.
The following were the winners: Carol Freaney (1st); Kitty Boden (2nd); Marie Walsh (3rd); Kathleen King (4th); Pat Walsh (5th); Patricia Quinn (6th). A wonderful night was had by all and the President's Prize was greatly admired. The President praised the Brandon House Hotel for a wonderful meal.
The competition was held over a fortnight. The winners on February 19 were: Carol Freaney and Kitty Boden (1st); Marie Walsh and Pat Walsh (2nd). The February 26 winners were: Carol Freaney and Joan Foley (1st) and Frances Ryan and Josepha Taaffe (2nd).
WEXFORD LOCAL Development plans to run a range of courses and workshops in New Ross aimed at individuals wishing to wet their feet in the education field again and individuals and groups interested in learning more and improving their skills in community development and community leadership.
The following courses are being considered for the New Ross area: pre-ECDL, working with young people, conflict resolution for groups, introduction to facilitation skills, social media training, kitchen garden growing group every Friday in the allotments, introduction to community development, Fetac Level 6 minor award in 'Train or Trainer' or facilitation and group's work skills (depending on numbers and budget), Fetac Level 5 minor award in Community development and First Aid in community development.

Forge Vintage Club
ON SUNDAY all roads lead to Foulksmills village where the Forge Vintage Club will host an all vehicle road run. All new and old vehicles are welcome on the day. Registration begins at 11.30 am. Vehicles will be leaving Foulksmills at around 12.45 pm and heading in the direction of Fethard and returning to The Oak Tree Bar where a hot dinner will be served. Funky Kids Show
THE CHILDREN of Gusserane National School will present their Funky Kids Show on Saturday and Sunday in the Tintern Complex, Ballycullane, at 7 pm. This show is produced to raise funds for the parents' association and your support would be greatly appreciated. Tickets are available at the door – adults €5 and children €2.
GRAIGUENAMANAGH HISTORICAL Society is hosting a talk by Dubliner Ray Talbot who will speak on 'The Dublin I Knew' on Friday, March 28, at 8 pm. The admission is €3 for non members. All are welcome to attend.
NEW ROSS RFC will hold a fundraising clothing recycling drive in aid of the club on Saturday, March 22, and Saturday, April 5, at the club grounds, Southknock, New Ross.
Please drop off all items between 10 am and 12.30 pm each collection day. You can donate all your clean unwanted clothes and also bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Wearable clothes will be recycled and reused and other items will be recycled for items such as industrial wipes or soundproofing.
Laptops must be intact with their power lead and mobile phones are accepted but please keep separate. Books are accepted but no school books, texts or copy, magazines or diaries.

THE HEALTHY Eating and Lifestyle Weight Management Programme 'Changes for Life' will commence on March 26 at Scoil Mholainge, Listerlin National School.
This six-week programme will take place each Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 pm and will be run by a professional dietician. It will cover a wide range of topics essential to successful long term weight management.

A 10km walk and run in aid of Console is taking place on Easter Monday, April 21 at 2 pm from Corcoran's Bar, Irishtown. THE SHAMBLES Youth Cafe is providing a welcoming space for teenagers in New Ross.
It is open every Thursday from 4 pm until 7 pm for young people of 15 years plus. The youth café is a safe space that is welcoming for all young people to socially interact with their peers. An art project is currently in progress on Friday afternoons 2.30 pm to 4 pm which involves creating a mural on the wall of the youth café. The theme for this has been chosen as music, so if you are interested in leaving your artistic marks do come along – it's free to attend!

Rachel Allen demo
A COOKERY demonstration with Rachel Allen will be held at Dooley's Hotel on the quay in Waterford on Thursday night. Tickets are available on the GYI website. There is a discounted group rate for 10 people or more. The event is a fundraiser for Grow HQ.
NEW ROSS Country Markets are held at the Rugby Club from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The usual range of foods and crafts are available. There is home baking, savoury produce, fresh eggs, vegetables, local honey, fruit jams, chutneys. Hand-knitted crafts, jewellery, handmade cards and an excellent range of plants for your garden are also available.
THE LAST Friday Sessions take place on Friday, March 28, at Bolg Bui with a great selection of music to be heard. Since beginning in 2012 the initiative has been gaining in popularity and regularly enjoys a large enthusiastic audience of original music fans.
