A LARGE crowd gathered at the Dunbrody Famine Ship on Wednesday for the launch of this year's New Ross Piano Festival.
Following a photo shoot with rising Irish piano star, Kevin Jansson, who at 13 years of age has already won many competitions, the launch got under way as well-known music critic and journalist Ian Fox regaled everyone with an interesting and humorous speech about how critics of the past gave derogatory reviews of some of the most talented pianists the world has known.
Festival Artistic Director, Finghin Collins gave a short piano recital before outlining the content of the 2014 programme and artists at this year's festival which will be held from Thursday, September 25 to Sunday, September 28.
Festival Director Connie Tantrum said: 'We had the biggest crowd we ever had for a launch and everyone enjoyed the service and catering at the Dunbrody.'
