ALMOST FIVE weeks after the worst flooding to hit the area in over 30 years, County Wexford Community Workshop's doors in Marshmeadows remain closed to its 65 service users.

Flood waters, which pumped in from the swollen River Barrow, severely damaged the CWCW premises.

Five weeks on and the CWCW, which provides an invaluable service for people with disabilities, still cannot open.

Manager Robert Smith said the delay in reopening the community workshop is now down to insurance-related issues.

He said: 'We have to balance up what our future would be like here or if our future is elsewhere in the town. I know there is talk around the town that we are not opening again – that is nonsense. In some form or other we will be reopening.'

For the moment the 65 users are left without a facility.
