As he counts down with fingers crossed to this week's Government re-shuffle, Chief Whip Paul Kehoe has been dealing with increased responsibility for the Defence Forces.
With Taoiseach and Minister for Defence Enda Kenny concentrating on other matters, the Wexford TD was asked to take charge. Already Minister of State in the relevant Department, he has not come to the role completely unprepared. The job includes sitting in on army management meetings and briefings for the Government.
