EMERGENCY SERVICES were called to the assistance of a pregnant woman who was knocked down in county Wexford last Friday afternoon.
Fortunately, the woman was uninjured in the incident, but she was brought to hospital for a check up to ensure all was well with the baby.
The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. at the busy McDermott Street junction on Main Street, when a car turning off the Main Street, collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the junction. Horrified shoppers, who witnessed the incident, rushed to the woman's assistance, and the emergency services were called.
The Main Street was busy with lunchtime traffic, and a large crowd of onlookers gathered around as the ambulance attended the scene.
' The woman was brought to hospital as a precaution. Because of her condition, the ambulance was requested,' said a Garda spokesperson. ' There were no injuries, and thankfully, both mother and baby are doing well.'
