A HEWITTSLAND house was extensively damaged by fire last week. The fire, which broke out at the house in the Cluain Huighead estate in the early hours of last Thursday morning, gutted the kitchen area, severely damaged the roof and caused smoke damage throughout the home.
New Ross Fire Service were alerted to the blaze in the four bedroomed bungalow around 2.30 a.m. and dispatched two units to the scene.
Upon arriving in the estate flames and smoke were visible from the house, with a large amount of flames coming from the back part of the home. The kitchen, utility and hall area were well alight and engulfed in the fire when the fire brigade arrived.
After fire fighters extinguished the blaze the area was sealed off for a Garda forensic examination, which was carried out on Thursday morning.
