THE SPRAYING of pro-Palestine graffiti on one of the most visible landmarks in New Ross – the roundabout on the Wexford road – has led to outrage and a Garda investigation.

Cllr Michael Sheehan has called on local pro-Palestine groups to stop defacing property in the town immediately.

Cllr Sheehan said: 'I think the people who are organising the campaign online and on the street need to call on people not to be doing this kind of thing. We don't need to deface property to get a point across.'

A Garda spokesman said an investigation is under way into the graffiti at the Culcita garden furniture wall on the roundabout.

'New Ross Stands With Palestine' movement activist and former county council election candidate Seamus O'Brien said that he had no knowledge of the graffiti at the roundabout.

Meanwhile a large Palestinian flag was painted, with permission, by artist Ciaran Moran at the back gates of the CDP on Barrack Lane.
