A NEW Ross man charged with threatening to kill a garda was brought before a special sitting of Gorey District Court on Friday night where strict bail conditions were imposed.
Gavin Lyons (22), pictured right, of 40 Chambersland Close, is charged with one count of threatening to kill a garda at New Ross Garda Station on January 2; unauthorised taking of an MPV at Chambersland Close on March 14; six counts of dangerous driving at Chambersland Close, the quay, New Ross, Barrack Lane; Hospital Road, Butlersland, and Knockmullen and Camblin in mid-March; and one count of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
At the hearing Supt Jim Doyle objected to bail and after lengthy legal argument, Judge Gerard Haughton set bail at €300 with an independent surety of €1,500, with a cash element of €1,000.
Judge Haughton set conditions, including that Lyons stay indoors from 9 pm to 8 am at 40 Chambersland Close. Lyons must also sign on twice daily.
The judge adjourned the case to this Thursday.
