Children around New Ross got to get up close and personal with some marine life last Tuesday in the library.

The interactive marine workshop proved very popular and children were amazed to hear that whales, sharks and sea turtles are regularly sighted off Ireland's coasts and that shark and ray eggcases can be found on Wexford's beautiful Blue Flag beaches.

The workshop was designed to introduce all age groups to the wonders of the marine world. One of the most popular features of the day was touchpools containing live sea creatures including crabs, shrimp and starfish.

Biologists from Marine Dimensions were also on hand to guide the children through the display. This event was organised in conjunction with Wexford County Council as part of the Blue Flag Education Programme.
