COUNTY WEXFORD'S ports handled more traffic last year when compared to 2012.
Figures released by the Central Statistics Office show 1,940 tonnes of goods passed through Rosslare Europort in 2013 compared to 1,864 tonnes in 2012.
There were 1,683 ship arrivals into Rosslare Europort during 2013 and most of the trade was carried out with Great Britain.
343 tonnes in goods were handled at New Ross port in 2013 compared to 268 tonnes in 2012, while there were 122 vessel arrivals into New Ross port last year. The vast majority of trade was carried out with continental Europe.
Although the volume of traffic increased last year in both of the county's ports, it was well below the figures for 2000 when 2,355 vessels used Rosslare Europrt for the transportation of goods and 478 vessels used New Ross port.
