A NEW Ross father said his child could have been killed had he been sitting in his car seat when a ball bearing was fired through the back window.
John Doody of 14 Haughton Place said the metal ball bearing was shot through the back window on the driver's side of the car sometime Sunday evening.
'If my child had of been in the car the ball bearing would have went into his head. The child would have been killed,' said John.
'It left a hole the size of a €2 coin in the glass and the window shattered and fell out,' he explained.
John found the ball bearing in the back of the car and gave it to Gardai.
He has since learned that a similar incident took place on nearby Mary Street that same night when a ball bearing was shot through one window and came out the other side.
