WORK IS under way on a massive extension at Aldi, New Ross, which will bring jobs to the area.

Aldi's New Ross store will complete a refurbishment in early November to meet an increased demand in recent years. An Aldi spokesperson said: 'The refurbishment will see the store extended, increasing its floor space from 850sq.m to 1,140sq.m'

The store, which currently employs 20 people at Marshmeadows, will temporally close during the refurbishment, reopening in mid-November. The Aldi spokesperson said additional new jobs will be created when the store re-opens.

The store first opened in New Ross in October 2006 and since that time has secured a major customer base in the area.

A spokesperson said: 'Aldi has consistently been the fastest growing supermarket in the country for the past six years. Aldi has become a popular fixture in New Ross and we look forward to continuing to offer exceptional value and savings.'
