GAA Draw

The annual GAA Draw which raises much needed funds for the club will take place towards the end of the month. The draw which runs for three months, April, May and June has a car and other valuable prizes each month. The draw costs €50 which covers the three months and tickets are available from any club member. Please support.

A great night of entertainment is lined up for St Mary's Hall, Fethard-on-Sea on Sunday, April 30, as Camross Drama Group present 'A Night of Comedy' with two one act comedies and a sketch. Show starts at 8 p.m., admission €10 on the door, raffle and refreshments on the night. social dancing.

Weekly lotto

There was no winner of last week's Club's lotto jackpot of €9,700 so next week's jackpot stands at €9,800. The club had one match-three winner, Gus White, who won €125. The winning numbers were 3, 7, 9 and 17 and bonus number 33.

Coiste na nÓg

Well done to the under-14s who have qualified for the Division 2 County Féile football final. They topped heir group with wins over Horeswood, Cluain O'Rahillys and Cushinstown before travelling to Rathangan where they defeated the home side St Anne's in the semi-final 0-10 to 0-1. The final is due to take place in two weeks time, date and venue to be confirmed. Our Cúl Óg Nursery Programme (for boys and girls age four to 7) began recently and it will continue every Saturday at 11 a.m. at the club grounds from April till September We will be doing lots of fun activities with the children to help advance their Agility, Balance and Coordination. U6 Training

Gusserane's under-6 footballers will commence training on Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Tintern Sports Complex in Ballycullane.

Children, who are five years of age or are starting school in September are welcome to come along. Hopefully there will be a good turnout where the children will have fun while learning the skills of gaelic football and forming life long friendships along the way.

Cards

Winners in the hall in Gusserane last week were Nick Doyle, Willie Kehoe and Mick Reville. Second went to Tom Culleton, Billy Shannon and Brendan Colfer. Third were Karl Hall, Johnny Cogley and James Larkin while fourth went to Pat Ryan and Tom Culleton. The LGD winners were Larry Larkin, Seán Doyle and Joe Ryan. Raffle winners were Johnny Colfer, Jimmy Larkin, Larry Power and Pat Ryan.

Clothes Collection

There will be a clothing collection on Monday, April 24, at Gusserane National School. Should you have any bags of clothes, shoes, bed linen, towels, handbags, belts, laptops or mobile phones please drop them to the school prior to that date.

Masses

Mass on Holy Thursday will be at 7.30 p.m. The main liturgy on Good Friday is at 3 p.m. with Stations of the Cross at 7.30 p.m. Easter Vigil on Saturday night is at 9 p.m. with Easter Sunday mass at the usual time of 10 a.m.

GAA News

Hard luck to the Gusserane junior hurlers one a one goal defeat to Cloughbawn in the league last weekend. The club is delighted to nominate Kevin Kehoe to receive the Ross District Award in the Horse and Hound on April 22 this year. Anyone interested in attending on the night are ask to book their place at the table with Lorraine at 086 1743117.

Model County Draw

It's that time of the year again when the local Gusserane GAA Club look for your support for the Model County Club and County Development Draw. Tickets cost €50 and they enter you in three monthly draws where a wide range of prizes are on offer each month including a new car, and a €2,000 shopping voucher. This is the club's main fundraiser each year and it has always received tremendous support throughout the parish. The draw takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, commencing on April 26.

Lotto

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 3, 16, 26 and 28. The match-three winners were Niall Mulligan of Ballyhackbeg, Butcher Guys c/o Kay Holden, Keith and Kay Holden of Ballycullane, Keith and Gary O'Grady of Ballytarsna and Bernadette Cullen of Ballyhackbeg. This week's jackpot is €17,300.

Tidy Towns

The Gusserane Tidy Towns committee appreciates the enthusiasm and hard work of all the litter collectors, who gave generously of their time on Saturday, April 8, to help make the village and surrounding areas cleaner.It is hoped that in the next few months, more improvements will help to make our locality a more attractive place to spend time in.Go raibh mile maith agaibh go leir.

Membership is now due for all underage players up to under-18s. The cost is €30 per player or €50 for two or more. The Dunbrody Gaels minor footballers played Sarsfields last Thursday and won 3-8 to 2-9.

Best of luck to Seán Nolan and the Wexford Minor hurlers who play Kilkenny in Nowlan Park in the leinster championship on Saturday.

The under-14 football Féile took place last Sunday, April 9, in Fethard where we played Fethard, Cushinstown and Gusserane/Clongeen and had mixed luck, winning one, drawing one and losing one.

The under-16 footballers will be at home to St Anne's on Monday, April 17at 7 p.m. while the under-14 footballers will be away to Our Lady's Is./St Fintan's on Thursday the 13th at 7 p.m.

GAA news

The Horeswood hurlers lost 2-12 to 3-12 away to Our Lady's Island last Sunday. The Senior Footballers play away to Bannow-Ballymitty in the league on Friday at 6.30 and will meet Gusserane in Round one of the championship the following weekend should the Wexford hurlers lose to Tipperary on Sunday.

The club/County draw tickets are now on sale. There are three monthly draws starting in April. There is over €80,000 in prize money with a car the first prize each month. Tickets cost €50 or can be bought monthly. All tickets must be returned to the co-ordinator by Saturday, April 25. Please support your local club as this is the main fundraiser for the year.

The juniors had their first game at home to Davidstown last Sun. winning 4-10 to 0-6. camogie training continues every Wednesday for all age groups.
