PARISH NEWS: The Novena of masses in Newbawn and Raheen for the repose of the holy souls will take place from Saturday 9th November to Sunday 18th November inclusive.

In Newbawn as follows. - Usual weekend masses plus Monday 12th - 7.30pm. Tuesday 13th, Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th at 10am. Thursday 15th at 7.30pm.

Readers for the weekend masses are as follows - Saturday 10th November Kate Reville. Sunday 11th November Siobhan Murphy. Saturday 17th November Mairead French. Sunday 18th November Shane Murphy. Saturday 24th November Michael English. Sunday 25th November Ann Marie Cooper. 16 new servers have been appointed to officiate at the Newbawn masses and thanks has been extended to all as well as to their parents.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in Newbawn Oratory every Tuesday from 10am to 5pm. New members are always welcome.

Today (Tuesday) is the feast of All the Saints of Ireland. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the feast of St. Willibrord. Thursday is the feast of All the Saints of Wales. Saturday is the feast of St. Leo the Great. Monday is the feast of St. Josaphat, and Wednesday 21stNovember is the feast of St. Laurance O' Toole.


The Annual General Meeting of the local Adamstown Ladies Football club will take place in Newbawn hall on the afternoon of Sunday 11th November at 5.30pm.

All senior players and the parents of the under-age players are especially requested to attend. An important decision will be made as to the top team remaining senior or requesting to go back to Intermediate grade


A final reminder to complete your Newbawn Survey forms if not already done. Any outstanding forms should be dropped into the special box inside the door of Newbawn Post Office immediately. A community launch of the findings will take place at a later date.


The local Under-10 gaelic football team had plenty of cause for celebration during the past couple of weeks having won out the Sarsfields tournament with a 4-4 to 16 victory over Taghmon/Camross in the final at Pairc Carman. Well done to the lads on the panel, team trainer Aidan O'Brien, and all others who lent a hand in the great success.


Sympathy is extended to all relatives and friends of Mrs Egan, Boley, Ballycullane who passed away last week-end at the age of 89 years. She had many friends and relations around the Newbawn area including her son Kieran, and her daughter Pearl White. She was interred in Ballycullane cemetery following requiem mass in the nearby church.

Sympathy is also extended to Martin Shortall, Newbawn, and to his sister Louise, and all of the other relatives and friends of the late Patrick Shortall, New Ross, who passed away last Thursday week. His burial took place in St. Stephens cemetery New Ross following requiem mass in New Ross parish church.


The winner of the main event in the Foley's darts league last Wednesday night was Tom Kent who defeated Cathal Delaney in the final. The ladies final was won by Helen Power, with Inez Brennan as runner-up.
