Meyler's window wizardry weaves a double spell on judges
'CATCH OF THE DAY' at Meyler's Fish Shop had no scales or fins, instead it was a trophy.
And it was a double whammy for the Bull Ring fishmongers, which scooped the prize in the Hallowe'en category as well as the overall award in this year's festival window display competition.
The owners of the business were presented with the Caroline Thomas Memorial Trophy by Ritchie Thomas at a special prize giving ceremony in Wexford Credit Union.
The judges awarded the top prize to Meylers Fish Shop for their display of fresh locally caught seafood.
Their artistic endeavours resulted in a creative and attractive window display that was described by a spokesperson for Wexford Chamber as being 'a credit both to their staff and to the town itself '.
Other winners on the night were Corcorans of Wexford for best Fringe Festival Theme, followed by Joeleen Codd Photography in second place.
Meanwhile, Carrig Donn won in the 'Autumnal' category and the Wexford Book Centre came in second place.
Slaney Flowers followed Meyler's and took the runners up spot in the 'Hallowe'en' category.
Unique to this year's competition was a new award which went to the best charity shop window. Vincents of Wexford were successful in this category.
Judging of the Festival Windows Exhibition was carried out by a representative from Wexford Credit Union which are the main sponsors, a local business person and an independent artist.
