A huge crowd attended the Rathgarogue/Cushinstown Academy funday and Fitish family event in Cushinstown pitch on Saturday, July 2.

It was the inaugural funday for the club's academy which co-incided with the Rathgarogue/Cushinstown 'Fitish Family' event. The funday weekend kicked off with a disco in Raheen hall the previous night organised by Mary Moore.

On the Saturday the boys and girls had great fun playing hurling matches on an inflatable pitch and completing the junior obstacle course. The giant inflatable dart board was a highlight with young and old displaying their football shooting skills and all funds raised going to New Ross Community Hospital.

A club spokesperson said: 'It was a great community day out. The Academy are generously sponsored by McSorleys Centra in Ballinaboola, who we want to thank for their support.'

The following morning the Academy u8 and u10 boys travelled to Dublin to play St John's of Ballinteer in Marley Park before heading over to Croke Park to watch the Leinster final. 'The boys played two great matches and enjoyed pizza together after the game, generously provided by the host club.'
