Luke Byrne is double trouble in the athletics world, not only did he qualify for the Boys U12 All Ireland, by finishing 6th last weekend at the U11 Boys Leinster Cross Country Championships held in Dunboyne, he earned himself a place in his second All Ireland, which we are proud to say will be held here in Adamstown on 9th December on the lands of Gavin and Stuart Rothwell.
Luke was taking nothing for granted and ran with the lead group all the way to finish line, with a sprint finish deciding on the placings. Also competing in the Boys U11 was Craig Wall who came so close to qualifying, Craig finished 15th with the top 12 qualifying, Craig fought like to trooper but eventually ran out of track to get up to one of those most sought after 12 places. Craig's day will come; completing the team was Christopher Mahon and David O Gorman which finished 8th place overall.
Also competing on the day for Adamstown and the Wexford County Team were Girls U11 Rachel Power, Aoibhinn Creane, Sarah O'Gorman, U13 Boys Eoin O'Gorman, U13 Girls Triona Mooney, Mairead Creane, Sonia Mooney,U15 Boys Ryan Carthy Walsh, Joe Mooney, U15 Girls Analise Creane, U19 Boys Stephen Gorman. All athletes ran with great determination and spirit in events which are challenging distances and not for the faint hearted. Well done everyone.
Preparations are well underway for the All Ireland Cross Country on 9th December. Fr Nolan has kindly brought forward mass on Sunday 9th to a 9am start, to accommodate incoming traffic for the All Ireland and to give athletes one last chance to have the Man above on their side for their big event.
As a large crowd is expected and to avoid traffic congestion, there will be a one way traffic system in operation at peak times. Please note incoming traffic to Adamstown from Knockreigh will be diverted down to The Leap/Newtown Route. Full details of traffic plan will be available closer to the date.
