A SPECTACULAR marine life spectacle was witnessed off the South Wexford coast on Saturday as two giant whales, a pod of over 40 dolphins, among other sea creatures were seen.

Skipper Martin Colfer from Duncannon, who operates the Rebecca C charter boat, was out on the first day of the whale watching season, having disembarked from Duncannon pier with clients when they spotted a hump-back whale off Hook Head.

While travelling south they spotted a pod of up to 40 dolphins and some Minke whales, as well two fin whales.

Mr Colfer said, 'It was a fantastic sight. Large fish stocks off Hook Head bring all sea life here for continuous feeding at various locations. Approximately 40 dolphins turned up to give us a spectacular display.'

Up to eight Minke whales were spotted and porpoises were also seen in large flocks around the coastline.
