Vintage car winner Catherine travelling in style

NEWBAWN PRIEST Fr Jim Furlong parted ways with his 1937 Baby Ford car recently for a fundraiser for to the parish.

Last August the parish council and friends went on the road selling the €10 tickets for the car and earlier this month a draw was held after the annual Christmas Concert in Newbawn Church.

The winning ticket was won by Catherine Culleton, Lough, Duncormick and the winning sellers were Annemarie Cooper and Michael Larkin.

The following weekend Catherine and her family came to Fr Furlong's house and collected and drove home the Baby Ford car.

One of the organisers said: 'The church concert was made of all local talent of which we would like to offer our sincere thanks and organised by Michael Larkin and Charlie Bradley and included John Stafford of Campile.

'Afterwards there was mulled wine and refreshments in the hall.'

The following were the raffle prize winners on night of the church concert: 1st Joan Stafford, return car ferry trip to France sponsored by Celtic Ferries; 2nd, Tony Kerrigan, dinner for two sponsored by the Horse & Hound; 3rd Phil Evoy, drinks hamper sponsored by the Parish Council; 4th Louise Snow, €50 cash sponsored by Ann and Andrew Bolan; 5th Tom & Eileen Shannon, voucher sponsored by Foulksmills Stores; 6th Nellie Doyle, hamper and 7th Roy Manser, candles.
