Exciting times for Mercedes

MERCEDES-BENZ has announced a number of new and exciting developments for 2014.
From January, the C-Class Saloon comes branded as Edition C. Equipped with a range of AMG enhancements, it carries a range of extras worth some €4,500 which will be added without any price increase. These include AMG body styling in front and rear aprons and side sill panels on Avantgarde models.
Adding to its allure is a radiator grille with inset star and fins finished in high gloss black, 17-inch light alloy wheels - also highlighted in high gloss black, dark tinted headlamps and chromed exhaust pipe ends. Interior changes include new Edition-C sports seats covered in Artico leather upholstery with fibre inlays and contrasting top stitching, matching door panels and gear selector. Other notable features include a luxury nappa leather 4-spoke steering wheel with 12-function buttons, dark aluminium trim, a multifunction colour infotainment display set within the instrument cluster, black fabric headlining, velour floor mats with contrasting topstitching and split folding rear seats. Standard items also include Parktronic and the drowsiness detecting Attention Assist feature.
From new year, it is expected that demand for the new S-Class will continue to exceed the volumes allocated to the Irish market - a consequence of the fact that worldwide demand for the new S-Class is also running in excess of production capacity.
February/March will see the launch here of the all-new GLA Class. Built on the same A-Class and CLA-Class platform, the compact SUV will take its place alongside its more established off-road siblings of which the ML is best known. With its muscular styling, the GLA will add off-road appeal and capability to the newly derived A-Class and CLA-Class stable. Things to watch for will be its rugged appearance set off by a power domed bonnet, dropping roofline and towering 20in wheels (optionsl). As with the A-Class and CLA before it, the GLA will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engines with transmission that includes the proven Mercedes-Benz 4-Matic all-wheel-drive system.
And in summer, the market for Mercedes-Benz will receive another major boost with the introduction of the new C-Class range.
Later next year we will see the new S-Class range expanded with the arrival here of the new S-Coupe. Prices and specifications will be announced nearer to launch.
