When cancer strikes your much loved family pet
The family crowded in to my consultation room: both parents, three teenagers and, of course, Ryan, the eight year old Collie cross who was the centre of our attention. Ryan was one of those dogs who had fitted in perfectly with his family. He was good natured, well-behaved, friendly, and intelligent. The youngest child had been six years old when he had arrived, and he was treated like a junior sibling. This was an example of how life should be with a dog: everybody loved him and he loved them all back.
