ST MARY'S pupils enjoyed three days of the arts last week in the run up to St Patrick's Day when a series of writing, dance, music and film events were held.

The students enjoyed dance workshops which were run by Jill Harrison from Wexford, while Sean Higgins and Katherine Power gave classes in set dancing.

With the support of Poetry Ireland the school had a writer in residence, namely John Sexton from Kerry, and he helped the students with their creative writing.

Waterford Youth Arts provided Dance workshops with Ollie Breslin and Sile Penhert and wildlife artist David Daly gave a Drawing Workshops to first year students.

Under the Artscope Programme the students enjoyed percussion and African dance workshops.

The week was rounded off nicely with a performance by young violin virtuoso Vladimir Jablokov, who performed From the Danube to the Liffey.
