THERE were fourteen different county finals on last weekend in football and hurling up and down the length of the country and yet if you tuned into RTÉ's 9 o'clock news last Sunday night you'd have been none the wiser.
Normally we refrain on these pages fromcriticising or commenting upon what other media organs choose to cover or choose what not to cover. We take the view that this is their business and nobody elses – if you like what you read or see then buy it or watch it and if you don't, well then don't.
RTÉ, as the state broadcaster, is a slightly different proposition. Its a public utility afterall. How they could neglect to mention the scores of the various county finals – as they had done in previous years – is beyond us.
Don't RTÉ get what the GAA is about? Or do they think that once the SundayGame is no longer on our screens GAA activity stops until Michael Lester and co emerge from hibernation next May?
