JERRY Wallis has moved into pole position to assume the vacant Kerry hurling manager's job, The
Kerryman understands. The Chairman of the Kerry County Board, Mr Patrick O'Sullivan, told delegates at Monday night's County Board meeting that he was in discussions with "a particular individual" and hoped to be in a position to bring a name forward for consideration at the next County Board meeting. The individual O'Sullivan was referring is understood to be former Ballyduff boss Wallis.
Wallis' name has consistently been linked with the role and he has spoken of his desire to assume the position on numerous occasions in the past couple of weeks, including in an interview in this newspaper before the County Hurling Championship, which he attended despite no longer having any role with any team in the Kingdom.
