It took a while for Legion to get motoring, but once they did they upped the tempo of the game significantly and started to tack on some great scores.
Austin Stacks 3-5
This was a repeat of the Kerry Féile final where Legion came out on top. Austin Stacks started brightly but failed to make inroads with the possession they had and found it difficult to get scores.
ome of the long range points taken at difficult angles would make any senior player proud. Austin Stacks defence and midfielders had their work cut out for them but they stuck to their task excellently. Some of the blocking and shadowing was excellent. But in the end the Legion forwards were too slick.
Chairperson of Kerry Ladies Pat Hartnett on behalf of Educate.ie presented the trophy to Legion Liz Mohan.
U-12 Division 4 final
The second final of the weekend took place again in Ballymacelligott in the Glebe Kitchens U-12 Division 4 final between Firies and Ballymacelligott. It was a very even game and both teams defended very well with some great skill on show.
However just before half time a deluge of rain came and the referee called for half-time. The game was delayed for over 20 minutes as both teams waited for the rain to move on and the pitch had to be realigned due to surface water on part of it. However the game resumed and great credit to both sets of young girls they made light of the conditions.
Firies were just ahead at half time and finished the game the stronger as Ballymacelligott struggled to get scores at times. There were jubilant scenes but also some tears as Mary Courtney from Glebe Kitchens presented the trophy to joint captains Emma and Brogyn.
