THE first three motions on the agenda dealt with the timing of the Club Championship competitions.
Castleisland Desmonds were looking for the first round of the Intermediate Championship to put back until after the start of the County Senior Football Championship. Glenflesk were proposing for the Club Championships to be put back until after round three of the County League along with the creation of a Losers Round for the same competitions.
All three motions were defeated mainly on the basis that they would be impossible to implement, although Glenflesk did make some interesting arguments about the creation of a 'round robin' system similar to what is used in Meath to create four semi-finalists thereafter. The East Kerry club felt it was unfair that some teams' quest for getting to Croke Park was being ended as early as April.
The CCC counter-argued that from the period of the last weekend in March to the last weekend in October each year only 13 weekends are available for Championship fixtures in Kerry with inter-county player availability only guaranteed for at least six of those.
An Ghaeltacht's motion in relation to no Minor County Championship be scheduled within 72 of Kerry inter-county Minor games being scheduled was withdrawn. Favourable consideration would be given to two teams who do not wish to play within that time period should the possibility come up again in the future.
