IT is the adventure challenge that is going to put north Kerry on the endurance map.
In one of the most exciting contests ever seen in the region, adventure athletes will be toughing it out to conquer nearly 70kms of bog, beach and mountain on bike and on foot.
The Bog-2-Beach Adventure Challenge will take the athletes over the testing terrain, in three separate stages on Saturday, April 27, next. A second, 55km challenge takes place at the same time, meanwhile, with the emphasis firmly on cycling.
The brainchild of Kerry Crusader founder Gordon Flannery, it is a not-for-profit event with all the proceeds going towards development at the Listowel Community Centre.
The Kerryman is delighted to publicise the event as Bog-2-Beach media partner and readers can get discounts of 15 per cent on the €60 entry fee simply by entering the following code -15listowel - into the website www.eventmaster.ie on April 3 and 4. Registration will begin at the Nano Nagle school in Listowel on Friday, April 26, at 9am.
Gordon is hoping the entire event will bring hundreds to north Kerry in its first year and establish itself as a feature on the national adventure circuit.
