Matches at Templepatrick in County Antrim.
Four handicapper Tommy resides in France, where his father owns and operates a Driving Range and Golf Course but he spends the school holidays in Ireland. He has represented Ring of Kerry for a number of years in the Kerry Junior League but is now playing out of Tralee.
Last week at Templepatrick, he was part of the Irish Development Squad who took part in a series of matches with Wales, Scotland and Holland.
On day one as Ireland beat Holland, Tommy won both his foursomes and singles matches and as Ireland overcame Wales on day two he took a half from his foursomes and won his singles, while on the final day against Scotland he won his foursomes match but lost his singles as Ireland lost to our Celtic neighbours who won out the quadrangular event courtesy of two eagles on the final hole to win two unlikely singles points.
So, four and a half points from a possible six, is not a bad return at all from O'driscoll who will no doubt benefit from playing links golf for the season at Tralee where they have an extremely successful junior development set up.
On Saturday last in recognition of his achievements he was presented with a golf bag on behalf of the Federation of Kerry Clubs and with a Club sweater from Tralee Golf Club. I shall be watching his progress over the coming months and he will no doubt be a great addition to the Tralee Barton Shield and Senior Cup panels.
