THE Kerry Minor Hurling team was presented with their All Ireland Medals on Friday evening last at the St Columbanus Hall in Kilflynn.
Former hurling officer Joe Walsh spoke on the night as did Gerard McCarthy current hurling officer. The medals were presented by vice chairman of the Kerry County Committee Ger Galvin, a presentation was also made on the night to their trainer Seanie O'Shea.
Many thanks to Prims Restaurant, Kilflynn for the fantastic food which they provided at the function and thanks also to Crotta O'Neills hurling club, especially Paddy Weir who made sure that everything ran smoothly on the night. Here's hoping our minors will have another successful year in 2013. Kerry Senior Hurlers THE Kerry Senior Hurlers had their first outing of the year on Sunday when they took on I.T Tralee in the preliminary round of the Munster GAA Waterford Crystal Cup in the Tom Healy Memorial Park in Abbeydorney.
This was the first competitive game for the hurlers this year. The final score was Kerry 6-27, I.T Tralee 012. They will now take on Limerick Institute of Technology in the quarter-finals this Thursday evening at 7pm again in the Tom Healy Memorial Park, Abbeydorney. Please come out and support the team.
County Hurling Champions Ballyduff have nominated Paud Costello to be the Kerry Senior Hurling Captain for 2013. Paud was a Christy Ring All Star in 2012 and was a member of the of the Christy Ring winning panel in 2011. Aidan Boyle will be Vice Captain.
Paud has represented Kerry at Minor and Under 21 level in both hurling and football and comes from a well known hurling family – his father Pat captained Ballyduff to the County Senior title in 1973 and also played senior hurling with Kerry. Causeway Comp CAUSEWAY Comprehensive school will play Coachford Community College in the Munster U16 and a half 'A' Final on this Friday. Throw-in is at 12.30pm in Rathmore. Kilmoyley Juvenile AGM THE Annual General Meeting of the Kilmoyley Juvenile Hurling Club will take place at the Club rooms at Pairc Naómh Eirc Kilmoyley on this Wednesday night, January 23) at 7.30pm. All parents and anyone interested in the future development of juvenile hurling in Kilmoyley are asked to attend this meeting. St Brendans Medal Presentation ST BRENDANS Hurling Club, Ardfert held its annual juvenile medal presentation last Saturday evening at Ardfert Community Centre with Kilkenny hurler and 2012 captain Eoin Larkin from the famed James Stephen's Club in Kilkenny as their guest. Coiste na nÓg Chiarraí Chairman and Secretary Eamon Whelan and Tadhg O'Halloran and NKHB Juvenile Chairman, Mikey Leahy also attended the well supported event.
St. Brendans senior Chairman Justin Horgan welcomed all the guests, hurlers and their parents and congratulated the teams on their achievements during 2012. Gerard Hussey the Juvenile Chairman outlined the successes of the U-14's U-16's and the minors and paid special tribute to all the juvenile mentors.
A Coiste na nÓg juvenile Team of the Year was also selected from teams U-8 to U-16 and Eoin Larkin also presented them with their trophies. Tralee Parnells THE Tralee Hurling Academy will restart on Friday evening the 15th of March 2013.
The location is the North Campus at IT Tralee, under the lights on the astroturf. All of the players who attended last year are invited to train again this year with the Tralee Parnells hurling coaches.
All children for Under 16 down to Under 6 are welcome.
If you do not have your own equipment on the first night, the trainers will have a supply of spare gear, for those trying hurling for the first time.
