IT was a great day last Saturday for the Kerry Minors who saw off Roscommon to win the All Ireland B Hurling Final in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. The final score was Kerry 4-17 Roscommon 1-7. At halftime Kerry led 2-8 to four points, Ricky Heffernan was the leading scorer for Kerry scoring a hat-trick of goals.
Well done to all the team and their management Seanie O'Shea, Denis Corridan, and selectors Michael Burke, Brendan McElligott, Aidan O'Mahony and Mark Power. The team was welcomed back to the Kingdom with a homecoming in Ardfert where Hurling Officer Joe Walsh praised the work and commitment of both the team and management. Justin Horgan, chairman of Ardfert Hurling Club congratulated Kevin Hanafin the captain from Ardfert and all the team members and management and went on to express his pride in the team and the great work they had done for Kerry Hurling.
Seanie O'Shea introduced the team and they were given a great reception by their supporters. There is no doubt that these hurlers represent a bright future for hurling in Kerry. Thanks to everyone who supported the team throughout the year and to those who helped to organise the homecoming. Classic BALLYHEIGUE GAA club are holding a Golf Classic on September 22nd in Ballyheigue Golf Club. A team of four will cost €100, contact any club officer for more information.
