KILLARNEY are the Munster Minor Cup champions for the first time since 1995 following a terrific victory over Nenagh last weekend in the final at Castletroy, where the host club lifted a whopping four titles in Senior Foursomes, Junior Foursomes, Junior Cup and Challenge Cup.
Over the past number of years Killarney have been unlucky it must be said in Ladies golf and maybe this title will see an upturn in the club's fortunes.
Mai Bergin took the top match for the lakeside club beating Joan Garrihy 2/1 and former Lady Captain Breda Duggan followed up at number two beating Jean Hickey 4/3.
Aoife Frazer made it three nil, taking the third match with a 6/5 drubbing of Sadie Callanan and Kathleen Wrenn completed the rout with a 7/6 win over Helen Leo as Nicola Rainsford's match with Carmel Burke was called in for a half.
Killarney manager Christine Carroll can also call on the services of Winnie Ryan and Mary O'Connor as she now heads for the national semi-finals in Courtown at the end of September where maybe the golfing gods might smile on her team and an Irish title might be winging its way to Kerry.
