FORMER Kilmoyley coach Tom Howard is set to be appointed the next Kerry senior hurling manager, The Kerryman understands.
Howard, who coached Kilmoyley to two County Senior Hurling titles alongside current Dublin manager Anthony Daly, will have his name put forward in nomination at the October meeting of the County Board. The decision to appoint the Clarecastle native comes more than five months after former Kerry boss John Meyler called it a day as Kerry boss following the Kingdom's defeat by Kildare in the Christy Ring Cup.
Howard is highly respected in the Kingdom for the work he has done with Kilmoyley and as a result of his time with the former multiple champions has a great knowledge of the game in the Kingdom.
Kerry had been in discussions with former Ballyduff boss Jerry Wallis, but the Midleton native decided to step away from the process earlier this month citing personal considerations, adding that he would not be involved with any inter-county team in 2013.
