GNEEVEGUILLA minors played an outstanding second half in this very entertaining Division 2 East Kerry Minor League game.
Fossa started the brighter with some fine long range scores from midfielders Mikey O'Shea and Matt Rennie. Gneeveguilla had Eamon Herlihy at full foward to thank for keeping them in touch with well taken frees and a cracker of a goal 5 minutes before half time.
Trailing 1-13 to 2-03 Gneeveguilla came out in the second half all guns blazing. A well taken goal from Chris Collins and great work at midfield from Marcus Cronin and Padraig O'Sullivan helped with the fight back. More points from Eamon Herlihy and a well taken goal from Cornelius Buckley helped Gneeveguilla take the lead. Fossa brought on Paudie Clifford but the Gneeveguilla backs stood firm and held Fossa to just one point in the second half.

A HIGH scoring affair in perfect conditions in DIreen saw the Legion win out by three goal margin, in a Division 1 minor league back game.
The home side built a lead in the first half, finding the net three times while Glenflesk had a goal by Barry Warren. Half time score: Legion 3-7 Glenflesk 1-4. Legion found the net again in the second half. They say goals win games and this was the case here.
The goals from Lee Callaghan, Peter McCarthy and a double from Brendan Lyne proved decisive and despite the fact that Glenflesk were dangerous on the break, the home side always managed to keep their lead intact. The last time these two sides met, Glenflesk chipped away at a substantial deficit and very nearly pulled off a great escape. With this in mind, the Legion kept up a high tempo, thus ensuring the win.
KILCUMMING hosted Spa in a Division 1 back game.
Spa proved far too strong for Kilcummin in this league derby coming out on top by a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-8. The game was effectively over at halftime where Spa lead by 3-6 to 0-6 following a very impressive show of skilful finishing. Kilcummin improved in the second half to make the game more competitive.
U13 Skills Competition
KERRy Coaching and Games are piloting an Under 13 skills competition in 2013.
Each divisional team that participated in the Under 14 county championship will have a representative on the county final day. Teams consist of three players at the age, with internal skills tests to determine those taking part.
Eoghan Ruadh will be represented by Glenflesk (Sean Doherty, Denis O'Connor, Stephen Corsini). Firies (Jordan O'Connor, Shane Burke, Sean Cooper) will represent East Kerry. Thanks to Roger O'Donoghue (Firies) and John Crowley (Glenflesk) for assisting in the smooth running of the skills tests in the clubs. Best of luck to all players in the county final in August.
