NORTH KERRY MINOR LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL Beale 4-11 Knock/Brosna 0-8 THE first half was a dour encounter with both teams guilty of repeated fouling.
Knock / Brosna started the scoring in the first minute with a free pointed by Timmy Finnegan, who went on to score two more pointed frees the only point from play for Knock/Brosna in the half was a fisted point by full-forward Eamon Prendiville. That ended Knock/Brosna scoring who seemed to want to carry the ball into the tackle, which resulted in quite alot of turn overs by Beale. Beale started there scoring in the 10th minute also from a free from the boot Sean Farrell again 30 seconds later Farrell pointed from play.
In the 11th minute Ian Mannix Beale pointed and it took until the 24th minute for Mannix to point again from a free. Beale at this stage started to kick quick ball into there forwards, and in the 26th minute sub Dan Ellis fired the ball to the back of the Knock / Brosna net. Half time score â?“ Knock / Brosna 0-4 Beale 1-4.
The second half started and first to score were Beale in the first minute with a fisted point by wing back Rory Mulvihill. In the fifth minute Ian Mannix Beale pointed from a free. Knock / Brosna in the sixth minute pointed from a free by Timmy Finnegan. Again discipline was a problem for both sets of backs and a free awarded to Beale was pointed in the seventh minute by Sean Farrell.
With encouragement from the sideline Beale stared once again to play a more direct kicking game and within a minute Arron Farrell won the breaking ball to kick pass it directly to the moving wing back Andy Connell who fired the ball to the Knock/Brosna net. Beales Sean Farrell pointed two more frees in the 10th and 15th minute. It was all Beale now and again wing back Andy Connell pointed in the 17th minute from play.
In reply in the 18th minute Timmy Finnegan Knock / Brosna pointed and again 30 seconds later pointed from play, but that was to be the last score of the game for Knock / Brosna. Ian Mannix Beale pointed a free in the 24th minute, but again Rory Mulvihill Beale pop up for a goal in the 23rd minute and last score of the match came when Shane Hanrahan fired the ball to the net.
The players for both teams who stood out were the two captains who worked tirelessly at midfield Philip Blake Beale and Shane Fitzmaurice Knock / Brosna. The referee was Ian Liston (Finuge).
