THE venues and dates have been fixed already for the 2013 Cups and Shields to give team captains a chance to plan for the season ahead as the 2012 season has drawn to a close.
The Jimmy Bruen Shield gets the action underway on the weekend of May 11 and 12 and teams from this area (West Munster) will fight it out at both Ceann Sibeal and Kanturk.
The weekend of May 25 and 26 sees the Pierce Purcell underway at Newcastlewest and Kenmare while the Irish Mixed Foursomes is the third event on the calendar on the weekend of June 15 and 16 at Bantry Bay and Killorglin.
Killarney's O'Mahony's Point course will host the Barton Shield on June 22 and 23 while the following weekend sees the Junior Cup at Castlegregory and Skellig Bay with the Senior Cup at Tralee's links in Barrow on July 6 and 7.
The Munster finals for the Bruen and Purcell will be at Bandon on July 14 while the Junior Cup, Senior Cup and Barton Shield Provincial finals will be played on August 10 and 11 at Killarney's O'Mahony's Point with the Irish Mixed Foursomes decider at Douglas on August 3.
Connemara hosts the Irish Close Championship with the Irish Amateur at Royal Dublin while the Interprovincials will be at Lee Valley in Cork.
The draws for these tournaments have yet to be made but rest assured as soon as they are, I will have them for you.
