MOYVANE 2-2 FINUGE 2-9
THIS match was played in front of a great crowd, who added to the atomsphere of the game played in Coolard, last Wednesday evening, there was a strong breeze blowing into the dressing rooms' goal.
This was from the start a very hard contested game, Moyvane, who were playing with the breeze in the first half, were first of the mark when Colin Enright fired the ball to the back of the Finuge net in the 10th minute. Again it was Moyvane in the 12th minute when Gavin Kennelly pointed. It took Finuge until the 15 minute to register a score, even though Finuge had much more posession, when wing forward Colin Sheehy was unlucky not to score a goal when the ball went high for a point.
Again 45 seconds later Colin Sheehy Finuge pointed. It took until the 18th minute for Moyvane to reply when again wing forward Gavin Kennelly pointed. This was to be the last score of the first half even though it was a very low scoring half, Finuge's forwards just could not find the goal posts and one felt that if they did this game would be over. Half-time score – Moyvane 1-2 Finuge 0-2.
The second half started and it was Finuge from a free who opened the scoring in the second minute from wing forward Gary Carey, again another free awarded in the third minute was pointed by Gary Carey for Finuge. In reply in the seventh minute a long ball into the Finuge square was caught by forward Colin Enright (Moyvane) who went for goal which was saved and on the rebound Micheal Collins (Moyvane) toe poked the ball to the back of the Finuge net.
Finuge changed gears at this stage, and in the 11th minute Colin Sheehy pointed, in the 12th minute sub Jamie Galvin fired the ball to the back of the Moyvane net. In the 15th and 20th minutes Shane Conway split the posts. Moyvane just had no reply when in the 27th minute super sub Jamie Galvin again rattled the Moyvane net, the final score came in the 28th minute from a free pointed by Shane Conway Finuge.
Tireless effort for both teams where Moyvane's wing back Gearoid Mulvihill and Finuge's wing back Brain McCauliff.
The ref was Mike Joy, Ballydonoghue.
