SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE: The round 8 back game against An Ghaeltacht, although a home game for Finuge was played at Caherslee on Saturday evening. The change of venue occurred because a number of Finuge players were involved earlier in the afternoon at Austin Stack Park with the victorious Lixnaw team in the County Minor Hurling Final. Conditions were good at Caherslee and there was there was plenty open football. Finuge who were near full strength had the upper hand for much of the opening half against a youthful Gaeltacht side who lined out without Tomas Ó Sé. The half time score was 7 points to 4 in favour of a Finuge side that continued to dominate in the third quarter. However a resurgent An Ghaeltacht driven on by Marc Ó Sé from centre back finished strongly with goals by wing forward Éanna Ó Fatharta and full forward Dara Ó Sé. The last score of the game, a point by corner forward Pól Breathnach shortly before the final whistle resulted in the game ending in a draw Finuge 0-14 An Ghaeltacht 2-8. Both teams are now on 9 League points and are assured of second division football in 2013. The final round of the League is due to be played on Sunday next at 2.30 p.m. Finuge are at home to Tarbert and this game will be good preparation for the all important County Intermediate Championship final against Spa which will be a curtain raiser for the Senior Football final on Sunday the 28th October.
