Ballydonoghue 1-4 Listowel 8-10
THIS final was truely a game of two halves.
It was Ballydonoghue who got on the score board first with a free pointed by midfielder Cian Mahony in the fourth minute, again in the fifth minute wing forward Stephen Mason fired the ball into Listowel's net from a long range shoot, in the 6th minute a free awarded to Balllydonoghue dropped in the Listowel square was won by Brain Mason and fired over the Listowel bar. It took Listowel until the seventh minute from a turnover ball to put a score on the board when wing-forward Thomas Doherty fired the ball over the bar.
The game flowed up and down the pitch until two frees awarded to Listowel were pointed in the 13th and 14th minute by full forward Sam Tarrant. In the ninth minute mid feilder Cian Mahony pointed for Balllydonoghue. In reply in the 17th minute wing-back Sheldon Neill fired the ball to the back of the Ballydonoghue net. In the 18th minute a free awarded to Listowel was pointed by Sam Tarrant and again in the 20th minute Thomas Doherty pointed for Listowel. Half time score Listowel 1-5 Ballydonoghue 1-3.
Into the second half and what can I say? This was all about Listowel from the fourth minute to the 26th minute of this half Listowel scored seven goals and five points scorers – were Sam Tarrant 3-2, Jack Healy 1-0, captain Connor Beasley 1-1, Darren Loughane 1-0, sub John Leahy 1-0 and the two midfielders a poin a piece (Tom Melvin and Bryan Sweeney). In this half the only score for Ballydonoghue came from a free pointed by midfielder Cian Mahony.
